  • Consolidated several "independent employed" practices into a single group with standard contracts and uniform compensation formula.
  • Worked with network facilities' medical staff credentials and executive committees to develop and implement:
    1. uniform pre-application, application and reappointment forms and process for independent practitioners;
    2. standardized bylaws with footnotes to provide adequate individual institutional flexibility;
    3. a network centralized verification organization;
    4. a network medical staff development plan.
  • Developed and published annual network report card.
  • Coordinated successful JCAHO accreditations:
    1. multi-hospital in 1996;
    2. network in 1999.

  • Successfully competed for a three year primary care pediatric training grant which was re-approved for an additional three years with total funding of one million dollars.
  • Instituted/chaired a Pediatric Ethics Committee.

Major Accomplishments

  • Successful completion of a six month "zero-based" budgeting process for the School of Medicine which resulted in state funding that included replacement of a substantial portion of "lost" VA funding.
  • At gubernatorial request, prepared a planning document for the School of Medicine with implementation of several portions.
  • Directed the School of Nursing and the School of Medicine through successful accreditation reviews.
  • Successfully competed for an Area Health Education Center; 6.6 million dollars over eight years.
